    Everest Region

    Everest / Solukhumbu Region

    Everest region lies in the north eastern part of Nepal on the Nepalese side of Mount Everest. It is part of the Solukhumbu District, which in turn is part of the Sagarmatha Zone. The Everest region's elevation ranges from 3,300 meters to the 8,848 m summit of Mount Everest, the highest place on Earth. Everest region has some of the world’s highest mountains including the supreme Mount Everest (8848 m) also known as highest mountain in the world, and followed by other highest mountains Mount Lhotse (8516 m) Fourth highest in the world, Mount Cho Oyu (8188 m) sixth highest in the world and many more other amazing peaks.
    Traveling of Everest region was a challenging and time taking activity, trekkers or locals had to trek from Jiri to Lukla and further which takes around for a week-long hard walk. Then in 1964 Ad finally Tenzing- Hillary Airport was built under the supervision of Sir Edmund Hillary, and in 2001 the airport was paved and since then Travelling to Everest Region became easier and faster. Due to the boost in tourism activities, there has been an establishment of numerous tourist standard hotels and lodges too. The major Attractions of this Everest Region are The Everest itself, besides other many peaks like Mount Lhotse, Cho- oyu, Amadablam, Nuptse, Island peak, Mera Peak, Lobuche, Thamserku and other several peaks. Besides mountains, Sagarmatha National park also lies within Everest region popular for its abundant flora and fauna resources. Vegetation like birch, juniper, blue pines, firs, bamboo rhododendron, Pine, Hemlock are the jewels of Sagarmatha national park.  Faunas like Himalayan monal, blood pheasant, red-billed chough, yellow-billed chough are found. Sagarmatha National Park is also home to a number of rare mammal species, including musk deer, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear and red panda. Himalayan thars, langur monkeys, martens and Himalayan wolves are also found in the park.
