    Kanchenjunga Region Trekking

    Kanchenjunga is the earth's third highest mountain, which lies in Nepal as well as India but the most of the part lies within Nepal. Mount Kanchenjunga has an elevation of 8586m from the sea level and lies about 125 km east south east from the great Mount Everest. Mount Kanchenjunga was first climbed on 25 may 1955 by Joe Brown and George Band. The Kanchenjunga landscape borders with Nepal, Bhutan, India and China too, and it consists of 14 protected areas with a total of 6063 Sq. km.  The kanchenjunga Himal has 16 peaks over 7000m, and it is the paradise for Mountain lovers, and trekkers offering spectacular views of mountains, glaciers and peaks as well as amazing diversity of landscapes. Kanchenjunga trek is one of the challenging treks due to its remote location in Nepal and has the difficulty in accessing from Indian side. Kanchenjunga trek has to be done from Nepal because of easy access and has to go through the famous Kanchenjunga conservation area.  
    Kanchenjunga conservation is famous for cultivated lands, pastures, rivers, high altitude lakes and glaciers. Animals like Snow leopard, Asian black bear, and red panda are found whereas bird species like golden breasted fulvetta, snow cock, blood pheasant, and red billed chough are also available in Kanchenjunga national park.

    Accessibility: 
    • Option 1:  Fly to Kathmandu then take a domestic flight to Bhadrapur (35 min) and drive to Taplejung (7-8 hours). After taplejung one can trek to kanchenjunga region.
    • Option 2: Fly to kathmandu then drive to Taplejung via Jhapa (20-22 hours) then trek to Kanchenjunga region.
    • Option 3: Take a Helicopter then fly to Ghunsa (1 hour) then Trek to Kanchenjunga region.
     
    Accomodation: No worries up to Taplejung but then basic tea houses and lodges in few places only so better do camping trekking.

    Attractions: Beautiful Nepali villages, Farm lands, Forests, Landscapes, several hills, Mountains (Kanchenjunga main 8586m, Kanchenjunga west 8505m, Kanchenjunga central 8482m, Kanchenjunga south 8494m,  Kangbachen 7903m), Tent peak/ Kirat chuli peak 7362m, Nepal peak 7177m, Wedge peak 6802m, Pyramid peak 7140m and several other peaks, Glacier, variaty of Flora and Fauna and many more.

    Amenities:  Amenities during the Kanchenjunga trek can be felt up to Taplejung then after virtually no amenities can be felt because of the remoteness and because it is least explored place.

    Best Season to Trek: March- May and September to November
