MAKALU BASE CAMP CAMPING TREKKING ITINERARY
Day 01: Arrival at Tribhuwan international Airport then transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu full day city Tour.
• After the morning breakfast, briefing about the Kathmandu full day city sightseeing. i.e Swoyambhunath, it is one of the holiest pilgrims for Buddhist and Hindus, and it is located at the hilltop in the Kathmandu also popularly known as the monkey temple.
• Then after we drive to Bouddhanath stupa, which is also the main important shrine for Buddhist around the world. Bouddhanath Stupa is one of the largest spherical Stupa of Nepal and one of the largest Stupa in the world. Then finally we drive for Pashupatinath.
• Pashupatinath is located nearby Bouddhanth, this temple is one of the major important sacred pilgrim site for the Hindus around the world. And not to forget all above three shrines are enlisted in UNESCO world heritage site. Finally drive back to hotel, then have some rest, prepare for trekking which starts from tomorrow. Overnight.
Day 03: Fly Kathmandu to Tumlingtar (30-35 minutes) then drive to Num (1560m)(4-5 hours)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive kathmandu domestic Airport then fly to Tumlingtar Airport, which will take around 30-35 minutes of flight. After landing at Tumlingtar we drive to Num on four wheeler, and this takes around 5-6 hours of drive. Overnight at Num.
Day 04: Trek Num to Seduwa (1500m) (6-7 hours)
From num we trek to seduwa via local village and farm lands crossing Barun River. From Num we have to descend up to the Barun River, after crossing the River we have to equally climb up to the other part again, where we register our trekking permit then we will camp somewhere nearby at the best spot. Overnight Seduwa.
Day 05: Trek Seduwa to Tashi Gaun(2100m) (5-6 hours)
From Seduwa the trail to Tashi gaun consists of several grassy lands, streams which we have to pass through those beautiful streams and grassy lands. We also have to ascend the ridge next to the Ipsuwa River, then trek through small village, and farmland and arrive at Tashi Gaun. camping and overnight at Tashi Gaun.
Day 06: Trek Tashi Gaun to Khongma (3470m) (6-7 hours)
Today's Trek to Khongma will be little difficult, as the trek from Tashi Gaun to Khongma consists of steep climb and Ridge walk over the hill through the sparse jungle then descent furthur more to Kauma. Camping and overnight at Kauma.
Day 07: Acclimatization at Khongma.
At Khongma we will stay here one more day for Acclimatization. We can hike nearby places, do some exercises and take a nice a rest. Camping and overnight at Khongma.
Day 08: Trek Khongma to Mumbak (3570m) (5-6 hours)
From Khongma we again need to ascend through steep rhododendrone forests untill we reach to the top of the ridge. The top of the ridge provides the splendid views of Peak 6 (6739m), Peak 7 (6185m) and Mount Chamlang (7319m). During our Trek to Mumbak from Kauma we have to trek through keke la pass then shipton pass and finally tutu la pass. After all these passes we will arrive at Mumbak. Camping and overnight at Mumbak.
Day 09: Trek Mumbak to Nehe Kharka (3000m) (6-7 hours)
After Breakfast we will descend for about 500 meters up to a small stream then we will again continue our trek towards Nehe Kharka. The trail is much rough then our previous days with rocky and sloppy trail which takes us to the valley of glaciar, from this valley more close up view of Peak 6 can be seen, then final trek up to Nehe Kharka. Camping and overnight at Nehe Kharka.
Day 10: Trek Nehe Kharka to Sherson (4615m) (7-8 hours)
From Nehe kharka we will gain more altitude, hence we should trek gently as the altitude difference between Nehe and Sherson is around 1600 meters. We can feel the big change in the climate and the vegetations. We pass through pastures Ripock kharka, jark kharka then places Ramara, Mera then finally arriving at Nehe kharka. Overnight at Sherson.
Day 11: Trek Sherson to Makalu base camp (5000m) (5-6 hours)
This is the day when we will finally approach towards the base of the Mount Makalu. As we come closer to the base camp we will see stunning Himalayan panoramic beauty which surrounds us. Arrive at the Makalu base camp then enjoy the feeling of arriving at heaven. Camping and overnight at the Makalu base camp.
Day 12: Makalu base camp explore.
All day enjoy the magnificent view of Mount Makalu from close range, Everest and Lhotse too. Explore nearby Glaciers, surrounding ice lakes etc. Camping and overnight at Makalu base camp.
Day 13: Trek back Makalu base camp to Nehe Kharka. (5-6 hours)
After our last glimpse of Mount Makalu, we trek back to Nehe kharka passing through Sherson,Mera, ramara then finally at Nehe kharka. Camping and overnight at Nehe Kharka.
Day 14: Trek back Nehe Kharka to Mumbuk (3570m) (6-7 hours)
Day 15: Trek back Mumbuk to Khongma (3470m) (5-6 hours)
Day 16: Trek Khongma to Tashi Gaun (2070m) (5-6 hours)
Day 17: Trek Tashi Gaun to Pakuwa(1520m)(6-7 hours)
After breakfast we will trek to small Rai community village of Pakuwa. From Tashi gaun we will take a new route then pass through forests and many streams then arrive at the Pakuwa campsite. Camping and overnight at Pakuwa.
Day 18: Trek Pakuwa to Bumling (1160m) (6-7 hours)
We will walk through the jungles and trek on the amazing high and narrow trekking trails which leads to the rocky ridge trails then to the village of Bumling. Camping and overnight.
Day 19: Trek Bumling to tumlingtar (6-7 hours)
From Bumling we trek following the Arun River then the trail pass through Mane Bhanjyang then to Seti Ghat and finally to Tumlingtar. Overnight at Tumlingtar.
Day 20: Fly Tumlingtar to Kathmandu. (30-35 minutes)
After arriving at Kathmandu, check in to the hotel, Rest and easy day. Evening enjoy typical nepali farewell dinner.
Day 21: Free and easy day at Kathmandu.
